Conference Speakers

Chris Brown. Chris leads the team of relationship managers at LinkedIn who are responsible for helping its enterprise customers to achieve their goals. That includes helping them build their brand, attract talent and sell & market products and services in new and innovative ways. LinkedIn is still growing fast, connecting opportunity with talent on a massive scale - there are now over 250 million members.

Chris is passionate about his field and a great advocate for LinkedIn. His own LinkedIn summary says, “Ask me about: social media, professional networking, social recruiting, and anything about how to use LinkedIn effectively”.

Paul Lewis. Paul is a freelance finance journalist.

He presents Money Box and Money Box Live on Radio 4 and Your Money on BBC World Service; appears twice a week on Breakfast on BBC1 and frequently on many radio and TV outlets. He writes each month in Saga Magazine and fortnightly on its website.

He has won many awards over the years, most recently he was named Voice of the Customer at the inaugural Chartered Insurance Institute Public Interest awards.

He runs his own website, has a popular blog and more than 65,000 followers on twitter

Emily Baum. Emily has spent the last 13 years of her career either as an independent retailer or working as a programme manager within the prepaid loyalty space. Previously she has worked on the Utility Warehouse discount club with P&MM, and the award-winning general purpose reloadable card with Voice Commerce.  

Having joined Raphaels Bank (the “Leading issuer of prepaid in the UK” at the 2013 Prepaid and Emerging payments awards) in 2013, Emily has focused on educating businesses in the flexibility of prepaid and opportunities it presents.

Raphaels works in association with MasterCard and Visa to build consumer-friendly ‘pay as you go’ financial products.

Jill Trembeth. Jill is Product Specialist in a small but dynamic team, where her role has a wide remit including proactively developing products to offer to Grass Roots’ diverse range of blue chip clients, keeping abreast of industry and regulatory requirements in order to ensure compliance, business development, product marketing, project planning and in turn, is the go-to in-house card expert.

Grass Roots, an experienced practitioner in the development, design and operation of innovative card programmes in multiple markets, works in partnership with an impressive client list and is regarded as an industry leading service provider in the employee and customer engagement market.

Lee Russell. Lee is a Senior Account Manager at MasterCard responsible for prepaid programme manager relationships in the UK & Ireland.   Lee joined MasterCard in 2011 tasked with prepaid new business development for consumer, commercial, public sector and transit before being promoted to his current role in 2013.

Prior to MasterCard Lee started his career at Giesecke & Devrient, an international leader in the technology of smartcards, security technology and banknotes.

Jenny Willott.

Jenny Willott was appointed Minister for Employment Relations and Consumer Affairs in the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills and Women and Equalities Minister in the Department of Culture, Media and Sport in December 2013, covering Jo Swinson MP’s maternity leave. She continues to be an Assistant Government Whip, and has been the Liberal Democrat MP for Cardiff Central since 2005.

Jenny was educated at Wimbledon High School and Uppingham School. She studied Classics at Durham University, before completing an MSc in Development Studies at the London School of Economics.

Political career
Since becoming an MP Jenny has served as Opposition Deputy Chief Whip and Ministry of Justice spokesperson for the Liberal Democrats. In June 2008 she was made Shadow Secretary of State for Work and Pensions before being appointed Shadow Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster. After the 2010 election Jenny was Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change and Co-Chair of the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Party Committee on Work and Pensions, until she was appointed Assistant Government Whip in February 2012.

Career outside politics
After graduating Jenny worked for a number of charities, including Oxfam and Adithi, a charity working with women and children in Bihar, Northern India. She was Head of Office for Welsh Liberal Democrat MP Lembit Opik from 1997-2000, before working for the children's charity Barnardo's in their Welsh fostering and adoption project. From 2001-2003 Jenny was Head of Advocacy for UNICEF UK. Immediately before being elected as an MP Jenny worked as head of Victim Support South Wales.

Personal life
Jenny is married and has 2 children.

Don Williams. Don is National Head of Retail and Wholesale for BDO LLP leading the strategy and development of this sector. Don is an audit and general business partner and has over 20 years’ experience. The majority of his clients are privately or private equity owned where the focus on managed growth to maximise shareholder value is paramount.  Many have international operations or are seeking to open up new markets by taking their first steps overseas.  

Don trained with BDO LLP and throughout his first 5 years, was supported playing international hockey.  This included representing Great Britain at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.

Siobhan Moore. Siobhan heads up the legal group at UKGCVA and sits on the Executive Committee.  She is a lawyer specialising in cards and payments; helping businesses bring their payment products to market, advising on authorisation by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), regulatory matters, business expansion and day to day business operations.

Siobhan is highly regarded by her clients. She is involved in the legal and regulatory working group of Prepaid International Forum. She represents UKGCVA in discussions with HM Treasury and FCA regarding changes to payment services to electronic money regulations.  Siobhan is also a judge for the European Paybefore awards.

Adam Gordon. Adam founded Connecting Corporates, a social media services company in mid-2009. Connecting Corporates helps businesses use social media for business development, recruitment, L&D and senior-level professional networking. We have 24 people based between Glasgow and London and are a joint-venture with Norman Broadbent plc, the international executive search company.

Prior to founding this business, Adam was marketing director for a private equity-owned recruitment business, a management consultant at PwC and in advertising with the international marketing company Havas. He has professional qualifications from the Chartered Institute or Marketing and the American Board of NLP.

Tony Rich. Tony is currently Co-Chair of the UKGCVA.  He has worked for Halfords for the past 7 years where he has drawn upon his 18 + years sales and management experience to help drive revenue in both the retail and B2B channels.

Tony launched the Halfords Gift Card programme as well as introduced an array of new channels to the business. His previous experience spans an array of industry sectors including FMCG, Public Sector, Blue Chip and Consultancy. A native of Birmingham, Tony is married to a long suffering wife and has 2 children under 6 that keep him on his toes.

Matt Davies. Matt has been part of the gift card industry for over 13 years for a number of merchants including Hollywood Video and Nike Retail for the US and abroad. Through Nike, Matt was a co-founder of the Retail Gift Card Association in the US, and has moved on to establish a gift card specific consulting and media firm, Powerhouse Brands Consulting.

Recognizing that the gift card players lacked resources and support, he founded the Gift Card Network, a peer-to-peer community of gift card industry members who work together to create educational and informational content and comfortably network.

Steve Bradbery. Steve is Vice President, International Product Solutions at SVS. Steve joined SVS in 2005, managing over 30 UK and European customer implementations before moving to lead the SVS Account Management team, focusing on using SVS expertise to promote best practice across the customer base and in driving customer behaviour through the use of targeted promotions.

Steve’s current role involves ensuring that products and services are fit for each of SVS’s international markets.

Steve has worked in the Payments Industry for over 25 years with experience in both Closed and Open Loop systems covering Prepay, Credit and Debit cards.

Alan Meneghetti. Alan is a partner in the London office of Locke Lord LLP where he undertakes a full range of commercial and regulatory work in the general commercial, aviation and aerospace sectors.  Alan's practice covers work which ranges from regulatory issues to the procurement of suppliers and responses to tenders, to data protection and privacy, IT, IP, and the drafting and negotiating of various commercial agreements (such as outsourcing, supply, service and R&D). He has worked extensively on matters in Africa.

Alan is a regular contributor to publications and at conferences in these sectors, and his articles and book reviews have been widely published. He is also a board member of the World Airport Lawyers Association.

Monica Monaco. Monica is the founder and managing director of Trust EU Affairs. Monica’s areas of focus are payment systems, consumer credit, e-money, contactless and mobile payments as well as  e-commerce.

Monica has worked as a Senior Manager for EU Relations and Regulatory Affairs at Visa Europe for more than 10 years, responsible Visa Europe relations with the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council Working Group on Financial Services. Previously Monica worked as a Consultant for Andersen, Deloitte & Touche and the OECD in Paris, the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.

Andrea Verri. Former manager in large-scale multinational companies, Verri is co-founder and CEO of Retail Italia, the first company in Europe to launch a digital gift card shopping mall,, in 2007. Today, Retail Italia is a main player in Europe for digital gifting and has developed innovative digital solutions for employee incentive programs and reward catalogues. In the digital gift card market, Retail Italia is a processor, channel partner and a reward and incentive platform provider.

The company is part of a group that integrates the competencies of ECRM Italia, specialising in the delivery of CRM, Loyalty and relationship marketing services.

Wendy Carter. Publisher of Incentive & Motivation.

Wendy has spent over 20 years in the publishing industry holding many senior roles with both national newspapers and magazine groups. In 2010 she set up her own publishing company, alongside I&M, the business also publishes a portfolio of B2B websites and a series print publications.

In addition Wendy is a board member of IMA Europe and Director of a newly launched event, Motivate Europe which takes place in February 2015.

Samantha Battles. Samantha is Head of Media and Payments for New Business at EE, a position she has attained after spending nearly five years playing a leading role in developing the Mobile Payments and Mobile Media businesses at EE.  She is the business owner for the award-winning Cash on Tap, EE’s own-brand of contactless payments services – a UK market first.  Sam also heads up EE’s third party mobile advertising services, which are delivered through Weve, and the Orange Cash Prepaid credit card the recipient of consumer-voted awards in every year of its operation.  

Sam is an important part of the foundation of EE, having been with the company since 2001, through the transformations from Freeserve to Wanadoo, Orange, and everything everywhere, before 2012’s rebranding to EE.  During that time, she's seen many desks, many chairs, and many roles, building up well over a decade’s commercial management experience.

John Sylvester. Divisional Managing Director, P&MM Limited. John has been largely responsible for the development and growth of the motivation & incentive discipline within P&MM and Motivcom.

John has over 25 years’ experience in the motivation agency business and joined p&mm in 1989.   Following a management buy-out the business was floated on AiM, he remains a major shareholder in Motivcom plc.

John is responsible for the incentive and loyalty areas of the business.  He has a depth of experience in developing, implementing and directing large scale motivation and communications programmes, and is a recognised industry authority in the field of motivation, making regular contribution to industry press comment and speaking at leading industry conferences and seminars.

John is a member of the IPM (Institute of Promotional Marketing) board of directors where, he has helped develop the Motivation diploma. He has also developed particular expertise in the field of prepaid cards over recent years, having developed B2B prepaid card programmes for some of the UK’s largest organisations.

Richard Braham. Richard is lead on retail payments, e-commerce and consumer credit policy. Richard’s works covers all issues related to payment systems including European and UK regulation, litigation, security and new payment technologies. E-commerce covers all aspects of digital retail, including mobile, tablet and more traditional forms of telephone sales and mail order.

He previously worked at the National Endowment for Science Technology and the Arts (NESTA), where he held various policy and communications role, latterly as speech writer for the CEO. Prior to that, Richard worked in a political consultancy in the property industry and as the Parliamentary Researcher in a MPs House of Commons office.

In the early days of the Farepak scandal we set up Farepak Victims Committee, we have campaigned solidly since 2006 to obtain regulation for these types of savings schemes.

As time went on, and to our horror, we learnt that anything prepaid was unprotected against loss if the retailer were to close, as we saw with the spate of store closures across the country.

SAS4UK have launched a new Savings Club that can be added to weekly, but this one is protected 100%.

Paul Madden. Director of Customer Experience and Digital Innovation at Mitchells and Butlers

Nick Cahn. Nick is Managing Director of CPI Card Group Europe and is responsible for three manufacturing facilities in the UK and the successful strategic growth of CPI Card Group in Europe.   CPI has factories in Liverpool and Colchester and a design centre in Derby to support its retail customers and a secure card factory in Petersfield to support its financial card customers.

Nick and the team at CPI have invested significantly in product innovation, design and packaging for retail gift card clients to position CPI as a European leader in innovative prepaid gift card solutions.

Prior to joining CPI Nick worked in the smartcard industry for Group Bull and had assignments in France and Japan.  He now lives in South West London with his wife and two daughters.

Cindy Mielke. CPIM, Vice President, Marketing, Marketing Innovators

Cindy is charged with planning and executing marketing strategies for Marketing Innovators (MI) and MI clients. She has over 20 years of experience in the incentive and recognition industry with a strong record of leadership and service including her roles as President of the Incentive Marketing Association in 2005, President of the Incentive Gift Card Council in 2007 and President of the Recognition Council in 2014. She holds a Certified Professional of Incentive Management (CPIM) designation, and has been with MI for 6 years.

Rachelle St Ledger. Commercial Director, Retail and E-Commerce.

With more than 10 years’ experience in the retail and prepaid sector, Rachelle joined PrePay Solutions in 2005. She is extremely passionate about the prepaid industry and the value it brings to both clients and cardholders.

Rachelle was co-chair of the UKGCVA between 2009 and 2011. As a result of her commitment and tireless work in this sector, the internationally acclaimed magazine Paybefore named Rachelle as one of the 10 most powerful women in the international prepaid market.

Michele Tomaselli. Experiences are in the marketing department of important FMCG (Spontex, Perfetti Van Melle) and entertainment (EMI Music) companies.

In the last 15 years in Bennet he developed deep knowledge of the retail marketing issues and he implemented fidelity programs within the company.

Jim Wilkinson. Jim has over 25 years’ experience in VAT and has been a Tax Partner at PwC for 8 years, focussing mainly on the retail and consumer sector where he has a wealth of experience in advising clients on VAT, Customs duty, Excise duty and Environmental tax issues.

Jim began his career in HM Customs & Excise.  In 1993 he joined Gallaher Tobacco as Indirect Tax Manager. He joined J Sainsbury plc as Head of Indirect Tax, responsible for advising the business on all indirect taxes matters.

In 2000 Jim joined PwC as a Senior Manager in the Indirect tax practice, became a Director in 2003 and Partner in 2006.

Jim is also PwC’s Tax Leader for the National Retail & Consumer group for Tax and represents PwC at Treasury voucher stakeholder meetings. He is also a regular media contributor on tax related industry issues in the sector for PwC.

Paul McRae. Business Development Director - Havas People.

Paul has over 12 years’ experience in the motivation and performance improvement industry, covering everything from reward fulfilment right through to bespoke PI programmes. He’s gained extensive experience in the automotive, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, FMCG and utilities industries.

Paul always strives to understand not just his client’s needs and objectives but also everything in-between to ensure any recommendations are relevant to both the client and the target audience.

George Farrow. George is Group Client Services and Operations Director for Reward Gateway which provides a comprehensive and fully customisable HR platform to over 1,000 organisations and two million employees worldwide.

Reward Gateway acts as an enabler for clients to engage their staff, explain employee benefits, promote culture and values and say thanks with discounts on every day purchases to big ticket items.

Craig James, CEO, Neopay / Chairman, PIF

Craig is CEO and Founder of Neopay, providing specialist regulatory advice to e-money and payments institutions. He is a highly experienced compliance and regulatory specialist and MLRO and has been Director and Non-Executive Director for several successful organisations. He brings considerable business experience and knowledge, along with a full understanding of balancing risk management, regulation and performance.

Craig is also Chairman of the prepaid industry body Prepaid International Forum (PIF), a not-for- profit organisation which liaises with, and educates, regulators worldwide on the intricacies of Electronic Money as well as providing support and education to proponents of prepaid throughout the world.

John Starr. Managing Director – Clareville Communications

An experienced PR professional with an in depth understanding of all aspects of communicating and influencing through traditional, digital and social media channels.

Specialties: Public Relations, media relations, media promotions and crisis management, social and digital media, mobile marketing.

Launched Clareville public relations agency with Val Mumby and worked with leading brands and companies including Wickes for Business, National Garden Gift Vouchers, Shell, Greggs, Topps, Valassis, Warner Bros, Tomy, Corgi, Sports Council, P&MM, Reed Exhibitions, Marks & Spencer, Baby Bjorn, Bathstore, IMEX.

Emma Peters. Emma has over 15 years of Marketing experience. She started her career working in FMCG for British brands such Sharwood's and Twinings Tea. This was followed by over five years working in the Entertainment field for Sony Pictures managing the Customer Marketing team.

Emma has worked with ASK Italian since 2009 where she has been part of the team leading the business through a fast paced transformation programme. Her recent role as Head of Commercial Marketing has seen her pioneer a number of digital and gifting initiatives for the brand.


Tony Craddock. CEO, Gx. CEO, Prepaid and Emerging Payments Awards .

Tony is passionate about gifting, prepaid and emerging payments, and how they can transform lives around the world. Gx is the community where companies get an unfair advantage in payments through research, events and business development support.

Gx, founded in 2004 as Giftex Ltd., is Tony’s seventh business. He has launched, grown, sold or - in one very expensive case - closed companies with one focus: helping other people make more money.

Outside work, Tony is a road cyclist addicted to the 200km Nova Colli Cyclsoportive in Cessinatico, Italy and other cyclosportives.  He’s also an amateur Rugby Football Union Referee.
